Solar Connections is a family owned company based in the Blue Mountains. We are committed to providing solar energy solutions for families and businesses. It is our aim to provide quality grid connected solar systems with professional service. At Solar Connections your installer is a qualified electrician who holds Clean Energy Council Accreditation. At the design stage your installer will work with you to find the best solar solution to fit your needs and budget.
The photovoltaic effect is the process by which sunlight is converted into electrical energy.
- The suns rays hit the panel surface and are absorbed into the solar cell. This causes DC electricity to flow through the cell.
- A panel is made up of many cells joined together. A group of panels, known as an array will generate large DC voltages and current which is then sent to an inverter.
- The inverters job is to convert the DC electricity into AC electricity, suitable for use in households.
- The AC power is fed into the main switchboard on the house and measured by a meter before being exported onto the electricity grid.
Solar Connections recognises the need for action at the local community level to address climate change issues. It is our belief that individuals can and want to make a real difference. Producing your own clean renewable electricity will greatly reduce your carbon footprint and help fight global warming.
In recent times electricity costs have skyrocketed and are set to increase further in the coming years. Solar energy is a fantastic way of offsetting your electricity usage and insulating yourself against rising electricity costs. The return on investment is excellent with the average system paying for itself in as little as 3.5 years.
The Federal Government also recognises the importance of renewable energy with the implementation of the Solar Credits Scheme. This scheme enables families to save up to $6000 (1.5KW) off the cost of a solar energy system for their home or business. Additionally, the NSW Government also introduced the Solar Bonus Scheme which began on 1st January, 2010. The Solar Bonus Scheme entitles owners of a solar system to receive a premium feed in tariff of 60 cents per KW hour until the year 2017. So a 1.5KW system can generate up to $1500 per year effectively paying for itself in as little as 3.5 years.
